The Chevy Cruze does not have a CVT engine and will still be equipped with the nine-speed automatic which will be the base transmission for the 1.4 liter four cylinder engine. GM did equp the CVT transmission however for the fleet buyers only. The reason for the switch to the continuously variable transmission was to help create a more fuel economic vehicle and have better gas mileage which is a major advantage for the cars that are equipped. Chevy Cruze is one of the more efficient compact cars and has a great rating which is why they did not add the CVT for more mileage efficiency. There have been some reported problems with the CVT transmission which is why there are a lot of skeptics vouching to not have it fitted in the vehicle.
