The 2008 Subaru Impreza engine uses a timing belt. The belt will usually need to be changed out every 60,000 miles to 80,000 miles or so but it can possibly last as much aS-100,000 if You're lucky. It's recommended that You have it replaced earlier on because You don't want to wait for it to break and give You real engine trouble. Having it replaced at the dealer will usually run You from $550 to $700 for the parts and labor for this particular vehicle. The price may seem a little steep but if You make an attempt to drive with a broken timing belt the damage done to Your engine will be much more expensive to repair. -
