The 2008 Volkswagen Eos was available in the standard 2.0L 4Cylinder engine but they also made available an upgrade for the 3.2L engine. If You have the standard engine then it will use a timing chain. Volkswagen builds great quality timing chains and it's extremely unlikely that You'll ever need to change it out. If You have a model with the upgraded V6 engine then it's going to use a timing belt. The timing belt is going to need to be changed out around every 85,000 miles. A new kit including a new water pump is going to cost between $70 and $200.
