The 2011 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI comes equipped with a timing chain, they started using the chain froM2009 on and before that it used to use a timing belt. Since it uses the chain, they normally don't need to be replaced unlike the belt. The reason being is that the chain is on the inside of the engine and gets help from engine oil and the belt is on the outside and is exposed. Even though chains are meant to last for the life of the vehicle there are instances where they can break down. For example if You don't do regular oil changes then the chain can end up failing. The cost of a new chain is anywhere from $120 to $190 if it needs to be replaced.
