The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander has a timing chain that is used on the engine to keep the timing in check. This is better than a belt in my opinion because it will not need to be replaced. In general You will need to replace a timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles but with a chain You should be able to go well over 300,000 miles with no problems. It is still a good idea to inspect Your chain at least once a year The tensioner can still wear out and if that happens You will notice that Your chain is loose and You should fix that as soon as possible. Overall having a timing chain is an improvement over older vehicles that use a belt.
