The Ford Transit does not have a widespread side door lock problem, but there are issues that have been reported in the past. The most common reason that Your door locks will not work properly is due to a problem with the door lock actuator. When this component fails it will not release the door lock from the latch when You want it to. Another common problem that can happen with the lock is with the actual locking mechanism itself. If this gets damaged or thrown out of alignment then the only way to fix it is to buy a new lock. This can happen when the door is slammed repetitively since it can damage the latching and locking mechanism with the extra force.

For the 2011 ford transit a common problem with the sliding door lock is that it does not lock and unlock, causing the lock to need to be replaced.
