To replace the rear brake pads on the 2017 Ford Explorer, You will need botH13mm and 19mm sockets, among other tools. Remove the rear wheel with a 19mm socket and breaker bar. Raise the vehicle. Remove lug nuts and take tire off. Remove caliper bolts with a 15mm wrench and a 13mm socket and ratchet. Repeat for the top bolt. Slide caliper off with screwdriver. Secure with bungee cord to frame to allow for space to work. Use a 15mm socket and breaker bar to finish removing a bracket holding the rotor and pads in place. Slide the rotor off. Before re-installing new parts, clean hub with wire brush, including the caliper bracket. Place new pads into bracket after new rotor is placed.
