Typically, the best way to reset a Check Engine Light (CEL) is to address the underlying issue that's causing it to illuminate in the first place. You can pick up a bluetooth ODB-II dongle from Amazon for under $20, that with the accompanying software, can allow You to view the code with Your mobile device, as well as reset it. Additionally, You can use any number of ODB-II scanners for this purpose, or, if You live in a city with one, take Your van into Autozone and have them tell You the code and clear it. Now, specific to Your Mercedes Sprinter are those "Service Soon" lights. Clearing those is done as follows: Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "On" position, but don't actually start the engine. Press the button on Your steering wheel (lower left) to have the display light what needs servicing. Then, hold down the reset button on the left of that instrument panel, keeping it depressed for at least three seconds. Release it, and then push it in again until the display confirms the reset. Turn off Your van, wait 60 seconds, and then go ahead and turn off the engine. You shouldn't see the service light any more... At least, until the next time!

To reset the check engine light in a Mercedes Sprinter you will need to use an OBD II scan tool to clear the code.
