The oil change indicator will turn on to remind You to get Your vehicle's oil changed. Usually when a mechanic or dealership changes the oil they will reset this light for You. If You are doing the oil changes Yourself You will need to reset it. To reset the oil change light all You need to do is put the vehicle in the on position without the engine running. Next hold down the gas pedal and brake pedal at the same time and then the display will let You know that it is resetting the oil. After that You will need to turn the vehicle off and then back on and the light should be turned off.

To reset the oil change indicator on a ford focus you will need to set the car into the on position, then hold down the brake and gas for roughly 20 seconds and the screen will say "resetting oil".
