Resetting the trip odometer on the Mazda3 is very simple and takes no time at all. First You need to look on the instrument cluster for a stick which is usually labeled as "trip" and is usually near where the mileage is displayed. If You press the trip button it will cycle through "trip a", "trip b" and then one without either trip a or trip b. Go through it until it says trip a if You want it reset for trip a or trip b if You want it reset for trip b and then hold it down for a couple seconds. After doing that it will reset the miles to 0. People do this to keep track of how many miles were driven for a certain amount of time.

To reset the trip odometer in a Mazda 3, press the INFO button for at least 1.5 seconds to clear the displayed data. After this, the mpg should be displayed for around a minute, and then the fuel economy will get recalculated and displayed.
