Some owners of the Volvo XC60 have been able to reset the "check engine" light by turning the key to the "on" position" and depressing the odometer button for several seconds. When the warning flashes twice, try staring the engine and observe whether it has cleared. Under other circumstances, the only way to reset the CEL is through a trip to the service center. An OBDII scanner is used to read engine codes and erase them, resetting the CEL in the process. Simple methods to attempt before scheduling service include checking for a loose gas cap. Any emissions leak will cause the CEL to illuminate. Drive the car for at least 15-20 minutes above 25 mph to re-calibrate the on-board diagnostics, or disconnect the positive battery cable for 15-20 minutes and then reconnect.

To reset the Volvo XC60 check engine light you will need a diagnostic tool to connect to the vehicle. You can then use the tool to manually clear the code for the check engine light reset.
