The Ford Taurus's transmission cooler lines are responsible for routing hot fluids away from the transmission and through the radiator and back again to ensure the engine and tranny are protected from overheating and function optimally. To disconnect one of these rubber hoses, always allow the engine to cool and then remove the negative battery cable with a 10 mm wrench. Position a drain pan beneath the lower line and using a Ford made "quick disconnect" tool, pry open the clips holding the line in place and allow coolant to drain out. Loosen the upper radiator hose found in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the bay, using the same tool and method. Replace plastic clips and re-insert hoses or affix new tubing if necessary.

Locate the transmission under the hood and find the lines. They will unscrew. Remove them and then screw the new lines on.
