How to turn off BMW parking lights?

Parking lights enable BMW drivers to leave their vehicle in dark spaces without fear of collision or accidental damage. They remain on, creating a perimeter of light around the car to alert other drivers of Your BMW's presence. After parking, turn the engine off and remove the key fob and open the driver's door. The exterior lamps will only illuminate if the driver's door has first been opened. Lift the steering wheel's control stalk upwards to complete their activation. An illuminated "P" should appear in the center of the driver's information cluster to indicate the parking lights have been activated. To switch them off, depress the stalk in the opposite direction. Lights will be illuminated on one side of the vehicle only. The stalk may be depressed downwards to activate them on the passenger's side.
