The slip indicator light for the Nissan Sentra means that the traction control system is engaged. This normally happens when the variable speed sensor, or VSS, detects that the wheels are sliding and turns on the control system so that the car does not wreck. If the light comes on and does not run off then there is a button on the main console dash, labeled TRAC OFF that You can hit. This will turn the light off. If the light comes back on, or it does not go off in the first place then You may be having a problem with either the ECU sending out false reading, or more likely the VSS is bad and not able to tell if You are actually sliding or not.

Push and keep the TRAC OFF button for more than 3 seconds while the car is halted to shut off the VSC in the Nissan Sentra. The "TRAC OFF" and "VSC OFF" warning lights will be turned on.
