The most common problems with the Advancetrac system in a Ford Explorer are usually caused by computer issues. The Advancetrac system is designed to give You better traction and it uses sensors at the wheels to determine when there is a traction loss. If any of these sensors or the computer that they communicate with have any issues it can result in a traction loss. Another issue with the Advancetrac system is that it can have problems with Your ABS system. Since it uses the brakes to help hold wheels that are slipping it can lead to the brakes getting stuck on in some situations and that is something that You will need to have addressed by a Ford dealer.

If the Ford Explorer has issues with the stabilitrak, otherwise known as the electronic stability control module or ESC, then it will experience issues with the speed and abs sensors, as well as making for bad traction control when driving.
