The most common oil pump problems in a Ford Ranger are related to the oil pump failing to work. When that happens there will not be adequate oil pressure in Your engine and that can lead to damage and excessive wear. I recommend that You keep an eye on Your oil pressure gauge while driving to make sure that it is staying in the normal range. If it dips too low You will want to make sure that Your pump is working. The oil pump in Your truck can be found in the top of the oil pan where it meets the bottom of the engine.
