The Honda CR-V has received numerous complaints over the years in regards to issues with rust and corrosion. The reason for this is because certain components will corrode prematurely. In particular, the rusting problems apply to the rear frame of the vehicle. Because of this, the chassis becomes perforated, and the rear-trailing arm will loosen and come off the car's frame. The good news is, the models produced in 2018 and later all have wonderful frames that resist rust and corrosion for years to come.

The issues with the Honda CRV rust are induced by premature corrosion of the rear frame, which can result in stiffener perforation of the chassis and, in severe situations, allow the rear-trailing arm to detach from the main framework of the car.
