The most common problems with the convertible top in the 2003 Jaguar XK8 are usually caused by either the motor for the top, or the frame top. Either of these components can fail and it will prevent it from opening. There are a pair of motors that are used to lower the roof when You press the switch. If either of these begin to fail You will notice that it is lowering slowly, or it may get stuck in the middle of lowering or raising. Another problem You may encounter is a frame problem. If it gets out of alignment then that will lead to the top getting stuck while it is going down.
