The 2009 GMC Sierra doesn't have any problems specific to its transfer case, but does have the same problems most vehicles do. Let's go over a few of those. One very common issue with transfer cases is that they can become cracked or compromised in some way, and start leaking lubricant. You'll notice this pooling under the Sierra, and that's Your sign to bring it in to the shop. A more serious issue is when the manual shift on the fly system with the venture gears in the automatic transfer case fails because the anti-rattle clip goes through the case housing, causing another fluid leak. And for a final fun one, sometimes You could see the transfer case deciding to shift into another gear on its own, which is really disconcerting on a manual. If this happens to You, take it in, now!

Common 2009 gmc sierra transfer case problems are usually related to the vehicle not shifting into four wheel drive.
