If the BMW 1 Series won't start then there are three common reasons, and two of them are tied together. The first is that you have a bad starter. If this is the case then you will hear clicking when you try to turn the car on. This will need to be replaced if you plan to use your car. The second issue is a dead battery, which will need to be jumped and eventually replaced.A dead battery however can be caused by a bad alternator, which itself will need to be replaced. The alternator handles the electricity in the car and charges the battery. So if it is not working then you will have a working battery that is not charged.

Some potential problems caused by a bad or failing starter motor in a 2013 bmw 1 series are clicking noise when you attempt to start, engine won't crank or a malfunctioning starter motor.
