The most common problem with the sunroof on a BMW 6 Series is usually related to the motor that opens and closes it. If the fuse to this motor gets damaged or fails it will lead to the sunroof not opening or closing anymore. This can also be caused by a bad switch that powers it. Although rarer it is not unheard of for the sunroof motor itself to actually fail in the car. This will leave the glass stuck in either the open or closed position depending on when it broke. There have also been some minor reported issues of the sunroof gaskets failing and letting in water, but usually this is more of a gutter problem than a gasket one.

The 2018 BMW 6 Series sunroof problems include the sunroof getting stuck open or closed, or not functioning

I have a 2018 G32 BMW 630 X DRIVE Gran Turismo from new and the Panoramic Sunroof has been a proper pain needing continual resetting after failing to close when it opens again just as it touches the Wind Deflector to lower it. BMW did lots of things to the roof but the pproblem persisted even after Software upgrades to Integration level S15A/18A-19-07-553. Eventually they advised to just reset each time the fault appeared and it has always got it working again for 4 to 6 weeks then needing reset again. Now just out of warranty it will no longer reset and the fault codes 030207 say no response from Hall Effect Sensors A and B on the Raise/Tilt motor, which costs £500 just for the part and by the time you pay fitting not much change from £1000, why did they not investigate this during warranty. I actually suspect there is power supply missing at Roof FZD Module but I need to remove the module to confirm. Anybody tell me how to remove the FZD Module please.
