The main problem that happens with an ignition switch on a BMW X3 is that it can fail and that will prevent the vehicle from being able to start. The ignition switch works with Your vehicle's immobilizer to prevent the vehicle from being started without the key in the cabin, and if anything in that system fails it will not be able to start the car. The first thing You should do when Your car will not start is try to jump start it using another car or a jump pack. If none of those help it start then You will want to check the starter motor to see if it is clicking or trying to crank. If it is not then there is a chance the ignition switch has failed and will need to be replaced.

If the BMW X3 has a bad ignition switch then it will not start, or will struggle to start. This can be caused by a broken switch, or bad wires going to the switch.
