The main problem with the BMW X5 ABS module is that the module can fail over time on the vehicle. When the module fails You will lose all anti lock braking performance and will be stuck with standard brakes that do not pulse automatically and can lock up and make a dangerous situation. Most commonly the problem is just that there is a fault with the computer in the module. You can reset the module by disconnecting the battery and holding down the brake pedal for 30 seconds, then reconnecting the battery. If that does not fix the problem then You may need to have the module replaced by BMW.

To reset the brake light or the ABS sensor on the BMW X5 you need to disconnect the battery and hold down the brake pedal for 30 seconds. If you dont then the abs system may not work, causing the braking to be unreliable on the vehicle. If the light is not working then you may need a new bulb or the wires have gone bad.
