There aren't really any specific problems with the DVD player on the Cadillac Escalade, but there are some gotchas. For example, you can't play a DVD with the front display while driving. This limitation isn't on the rear-seat screens, naturally, but it's considered a safety issue to watch a DVD when you're supposed to be watching the road. Another issue is some DVDs won't play due to region codes. It's amazing that's still a thing, but it is. Copy protection is pretty lame: You'll only be able to play Region 1 discs here in the States. Sometimes, your DVD may be too hot to play, if it's been out in the sun. Letting it cool down can allow it to function normally. This is usually indicated by a Disk Read Error on the screen. Of course, if your infotainment system isn't even turning on, you won't be able to play discs; if that happens, check the interior fuse box to see if the relay's shot.
