The Hyundai Santa Fe electronic parking brake is not without problems and owners have reported issues over a range of years, froM2007-2010. The brake fails to stay engaged and has in some cases caused serious injury. After turning off the ignition and placing into park, with the emergency brake in place, the car rolls backward. Another driver complained his toddler was able to move the shifter to neutral while the vehicle was switched off, causing both the child and car to roll backward into oncoming traffic. At highway speeds, both the emergency brakes and the driving brakes have been known to stop working. Others have simply complained of continued parking brake failure at only 30,000 miles or less.
