The Mercedes CLK 200 is not known for having issues with the compressor, though obviously, it is possible for it to happen. If issues do come up then You will notice a few things. First, the car will not get as much power upon acceleration. This will make it feel slow and sluggish. Secondly, when You are idle You will notice that the car likes to shake and rattle. This is due to the engine not air and trying to choke. If either of these happens You will want to take the car in for some repairs. If You do not then it will be unreliable and will likely break down. A full repair for the compressor will cost You about 500 dollars.
