As You're driving Your 2008 Honda Civic, You notice Your check engine light has become illuminated on Your dashboard. There are a handful of things that could cause this to occur. First, check the gas cap on Your fuel tank to ensure You didn't accidentally close it improperly, or it hasn't become jarred loose. You also may be experience failure of an oxygen sensor. If this is the case, You will notice a significant loss of fuel efficiency, or smell something resembling sulfur emanating from Your vehicle. If this is the case, the sensor will need to be replaced. This will cost between $48 and $125 for parts alone. If You hear knocking noises from the engine, You may need to have Your oil replaced.
