The check emission system light illuminated in an Acura RL will usually indicate there is a malfunction in the vehicle's emissions, ignition, fuel or even a loose gas cap. Likewise, the emission system check light can be triggered by anything as basic as a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator or throttle location sensor. The gas cap will be the first thing to inspect to see if this could be the cause. There can also be other issues with the vehicle such as a bad vapor canister purge valve, fuel vapor hose leak, or a d***y or damaged fuel tank pressure sensor. You will most likely have to inspect these items to find the cause which can be tiresome or You can take it to the dealership or auto shop mechanic and have them diagnose it for You.
