If You have a check engine light turn on in the dash of Your Ford Focus the first thing You should do is stop driving as soon as it is safe to do so. After that You will want to read the code that is stored in the ECU by using an OBD II scan tool. If You see a code P144A that means that there is an EVAP system problem with the vehicle. Usually this means that there is a vapor tube that has gotten clogged or pinched between the fuel tank pressure sensor and the actual fuel tank itself. Inspect this hose for any signs of damage and if that does not solve it then it may be a bad sensor.
