The 2011 Ford F-150 check engine light causes are spark plugs pop off and gasket cracks. The spark plugs need to be replaced every 100,000 miles unless it's a copper one. A cooper spark plug needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles. Your air filter needs to be replaced every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. The coolant needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles. You will come across many issues with an engine. A gasket may be loose and that needs to be tightened up. A spark plug may pop off, causing engine issues. A serious problem is the engine overheating. This may lead to fires and the vehicle exploding. There could be excessive oil use, requiring the oil to be changed sooner than expected. You can have oil leaks and those need to be repaired as soon as possible.

When the check engine light comes on, in a 2011 ford f150 it means the truck has sensed a problem. You need to have the code read to figure out what the issue is.

The reason your check engine light is on is due to an error code being set. This error code can be cause by many different reason and the only way to know for sure if to have the code or codes check with a code reader. Once the codes are read, you can determine what the cause and fix is to correct them. You can also clear the codes with a reader and that will turn off the check engine light. Some of the auto parts store will read the codes for you and print out what the codes are and what it takes to fix them. You might also need to take it to an auto repair shop or dealership to have the truck serviced depending on how comfortable you are working on your truck. Hope this helps.
