The 2014 Ford Fusion traction control button is used to turn the traction control system off. The system is on by default and You will need to press and hold it in order to turn it off if You are in an area where You know that You will not need traction control. The traction control system in Your sedan uses the brakes to help maintain traction while You are driving. It will pulse the breaks to wheels when it detects that they are slipping. This can help keep You from losing control in situations where there is low traction such as icy or dirt roads. In general I recommend leaving the traction control system on because it can also help prevent understeer in Your car.
