When the check engine light turns on in Your Ford Fiesta it can mean many different things. The first thing that You should do is try to get off the road as soon as possible to prevent damage to Your vehicle. As soon as You are safely parked somewhere You will want to connect an OBD II scan tool to the car to read the code in the ECU that caused the light to turn on. The most common reason that a check engine light will come on is a vacuum leak caused by a loose gas cap. If that is not the problem then You will need to investigate further and see if there are any components that have failed.

If the check engine light is on in your ford fiesta that may indicate you have a loose gas cap, o2 sensor issues or your fuel injectors and timing belt are failing.
Does this literally mean to tighten the gas cap where put the fuel in? Sorry if that sounds thick asking that lol
