The 2001 Audi TT has a speed sensor that can be located via the engine bay at the front of Your vehicle. The first thing You will need to do is open the hood, and use the prop arm to hold it securely. Next, look into the engine compartment, to the back of the transmission. The tranny can be found at the left or passenger side of the engine. The output shaft will be on the right side of the transmission, free or mounted to it. It is usually underneath a valve cover. If it is faulty, it will need to be replaced. You can expect to pay between $23 and $85 for a new sensor.
