The 2011 Ford F-150 IWE check valve is a vacuum system that will engage or disengage the front wheel hubs. If the valve does bad the truck will lose its ability to hold the vacuum and the front wheel hubs will try to engage involuntarily. The check valve is used to lock and unlock the hubs for 2WD and the release of the vacuum by the solenoid locks them for 4WD. The symptoms of the valve You will notice a bad grinding sound coming from the wheels in 2WD and You will notice that or the 4WD will not engage. The cost for a replacement IWE check valve is listed as $20 - $30 for the check valve and another $15 - $30 for the vacuum hose.
