The total cost to change the ATF in Your Toyota Highlander will be around $175 with labor takeng up $120 of that total. The transmission in Your Highlander calls for Dexron-VI Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid to be used. The total capacity of the transmission iS3.7 quarts but to do a proper ATF change You will need roughly 10 quarts. The extra fluid is necessary because You need to flush the entire system by draining it, filling it with new fluid, driving for a few minutes followed by draining and filling it again. This makes sure all the contaminants are truly washed out when You go to add the new ATF in. Toyota says this service should be completed every 30,000 miles.

$280 in Delaware. Don’t do it yourself and don’t take it to other mechanics. Take it to the dealer. The transmission fluid change needs to be done under certain engine temperature. Dealer does it the best way. For other fluids and oil change, DIY.
