The removal of a Ford Freestyle engine is a difficult process that could take up to 6-8 hours for the complete job. You will need a wrench/socket set, a Torx wrench, hydraulic lift, and an engine hoist to get the motor out of the car when it's detached from the motor mounts. The first thing you will do is lift the vehicle and put it on jack stands. This will give you access to the motor mounts to remove the bolts for the engine. You will also have to remove all the electrical wiring, hoses, and clamps to the different components of the engine such as the radiator, firewall, heater core, battery, etc.. Once you have detached all the components for the motor you can then connect the wraps or chains for the engine hoist and lift it out.
