The Ford Ranger 2.3l has an oil capacity of 6.2 quarts with a filter. It is recommended to use SAE 5W-20 oil. Oil keeps the internal parts of Your car's engine cool and lubricated and it also keeps the moving parts from grinding against each other thereby reducing wear and damage. The cost of an oil change for Your Ranger is around $100 or so. You should get an oil change every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. Signs that it's time for an oil change include increased engine noise and knocking, an oil smell inside the car, shaking while idling, more mileage than normal, and of course if You see the Check Engine or Oil Change lights come on.

Wow some of the answers here are mind-boggling do you people read the owner's manual. If you open your hood it says right on the oil cap 5W30 do not use 5W20. It's 6.2 quarts with the filter changed

A ford ranger has an oil capacity of 4-quarts with filter or 6.2-Quarts with filter on the 2.3L ecoboost model.
