If You have a check engine light in Your Chevy Impala the first thing that You should do is get off the road to prevent more damage to Your engine. Once You are off the road You should use an OBD II scan tool to read the codes that are in the ECU. If You have a code P16D) that means that there is an oil leak that was detected. Usually this means that there is a leak that is at the cylinder head or the plugs. This is something that You should get inspected and repaired because oil leaks can damage Your engine.

When a chevy impala returns a p16d0 it is telling you there is an oil leak. The problem is usually with the oil galley plugs in the cylinder head.
