The Toyota Tundra P2440 error code is associated with a secondary air valve that is stuck open. The SAV's primary purpose is to inject clean air into the Tundra's exhaust to dilute the amount of toxic fumes it emits. The PCM uses data from a voltage signal to determine the pressure and flow of this clean injection. When the secondary air system relays a voltage reading 10 percent more than standard, the P2440 error code is thrown. The owner will notice an illuminated "check engine" light, a noisy exhaust, stalling while idling and hesitation when accelerating. Causes are numerous and include a faulty injection valve, failed injection pump or pressure sensor as well as faulty vacuum switching wiring, connections, pins or valves.
