The ambient temperature sensor on the Toyota Tundra is responsible for recording the external temperature and relaying it to the car's computer. It is located under the front grille on the drivers side below and left of the headlight. The sensor should also be attached to a cable. If external temperature readings are interrupted or faulty, You may not be able to keep the cabin set at Your temperature preferences. The HVAC is dependent on the ambient sensor to determine how much hot or cool air needs to be circulated on the interior. The ATS can become degraded or obstructed by dirt or road debris or even damaged. Cost to replace it is between $85-$100 in parts and labor.
