Honda started using a cap less fuel filler system in most of its models over the past few years. However, the Honda Insight does use a gas cap. The reason being is that it's a pressurized system, which Honda says increases the car's gas mileage. The use of unleaded gasoline of 87 octane or higher is recommended. Honda recommends TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline where available. Do NOT use gasoline containing more than 15% ethanol. Gasoline contains around 10% ethanol because in the early 1990s, the U.S. Issued a Clean Air Act that required Americans to use oxygenated gasoline in order for it to burn cleaner in combustion engines.
