The 2009 Cadillac CTS oil recommendation iS5w-30 full synthetic as stated by the manufacturer. If You plant to drive the car in extreme cold -20 Fahrenheit it will require 0W-30 oil. The car has a 3.6L v6 engine that will require approximately 6 quarts of oil when changing it. The cost for oil will range from $5 - $10 and it will depend on the brand and quality and Cadillac recommends using a Dexos-certified brand. One thing to remember is the oil should always have the GM4718M standard designation because if it doesn't it could cause engine damage that will not be covered by warranty. You should check oil levels regularly just pop the hood look for the yellow loop handle for the dipstick and pull it out to examine the oil level.
