The 2016 Chevy Trax uses the SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil. It comes in a variety of brands You can choose from. ThiS-TYPE of oil is recommended by the manufacturer, and it is a great idea to always stick to that recommendation. Using the right oil will give longevity to Your engine. You should change Your oil every 3500 to 5000 miles, and maintain that scheduling. This will cost You $100 to $150 for each change, but it is worth it in the long-run. To save some money on changes, You can learn to change Your own oil and just buy from the store. Auto stores like Autozone and the auto section of Target are places to find it.

The 2016 Chevy Trax takes synthetic oil for best performance, though you maybe able to use a synthetic blend. There is an OEM oil, Dexos 1™ SAE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil, but there are numerous brands you can use and weights you can choose.
