Nissan Pathfinders have been faulted for their electric steering assembly that demonstrates a loud whining noise when drivers are turning or moving at low speeds. This is due to a manufacturing defect that has been reported to the NHTSA by multiple drivers. Owners consistently complain of a high pitched "whistling" sound that is generated from the electric power steering assembly. Nissan has issued a TSB to address the PS noise. They have instructed dealerships to install an "insulator" at the end of the power steering pump housing to dampen the operating sounds. The bulletin applies to 2013-2015 Nissan Pathfinders and 2014 hybrid models of the Pathfinder. It also pertains to the 2013-2015 Altima and the 2015 Murano.
