According to the owners manual, the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox should use A50/50 mixture of drinkable water with DEX-COOL coolant. This mixture will give You freezing protection down to -34 F, and will give You boiling protection up to 265 F. Its important to use the right kind of coolant to avoid overheating and severely damaging the engine. To check the coolant levels, the car must be on a flat surface. Look to see if You can see coolant in the tank, and if its boiling, do not turn the cap on the tank even a little bit. If You see coolant but its not at or above the COLD FILL line, You can add the mixture mentioned above. Never attempt to add coolant until Youre positive it is completely cooled down, otherwise You risk serious injuries.
