The type of brake fluid that is recommended for the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is DOT 3 fluid. The part number is 19353126, it used to recommended that You use part number 19299818 but then it changed. Brake fluid is hydraulic fluid that transfers force into pressure and helps You apply the brakes so the vehicle will stop. According to the owner's manual, the brake fluid should be replaced every 5 years. To check the level of fluid You park the vehicle on a level surface, go to the reservoir and see where the level is at between the MINImum and maximum marks. Before adding more fluid You should wipe away dust or anything that is on the cap so it doesn't get in the reservoir.
