The 2017 Ford Explorer 3.5L engine use a screw on canister and it has a thread pattern of M22 X1.50. You will need to use a 3/8" wrench or ratchet in order to remove it. The filters that are used on the vehicle are attached at the bottom of the engine next to the oil pan and are made out of aluminum.
