The 2006 Ford F-350 uses mercon full synthetic power steering fluid. This is a hydraulic fluid that is used to aid You when You are steering Your truck. The power steering pump moves fluid from the reservoir through the lines to the steering rack. When You turn Your wheel this hydraulic fluid pressure will assist You in turning so that it is not as difficult to turn. When You have low power steering fluid or a bad power steering pump the steering feel of the truck will become much heavier and can make it difficult to control. I recommend checking Your power steering fluid every time You change the oil in the truck to make sure that it is full and free from leaks.
