What's the 00022 Audi fault code?

The P0022 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) on Your Audi expands to Camshaft Position A- Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 2). That seems a bit of a problematic phrasing in this day and age, but what it means is that the intake camshaft timing for the bank 2 has been restricted more than what the ECM has asked for. Some causes of this could be that the variable camshaft timing (VCT) oil control valve is stuck int he open position, or that the camshaft phaser itself is damaged and stuck in the limiting position. Additionally, there could be oil flow problems to the VCT piston and phaser. Resolution will be to check the electrical connections to the camshaft sensor, and then start looking at the oil control solenoid and the crankshaft sensor for loose connections, damaged wiring, or failure of the components themselves.
