The 2011 Ford F-150's fuel pump is primed to shut off in the event of a collision. The switch to re-engage the pump may be located under the driver's dash, indicated by a red arrow. If the truck is not equipped with a manual switch, the pump will be controlled by a module instead, found near the spare tire. The feature disables the flow of fuel to the engine in a severe accident, to avoid combustion or fire. Keep in mind, just like airbags, not every accident is impactful enough to activate this F-150 feature. The system works with what is commonly referred to as an "inertia switch" progRammed to shut off the vehicle's pump if sensors detect a sudden or violent stop.
